Naqsh faryaadi hai kiski shaukhi-e-tehreer ka
Kagazi hai pairahan har paikar e tasveer ka

kya kya e sakht janeeha e tanhai na poocha
Subha karna shaam ka lana hai juu e sheer ka

Jazbah-e-bey ikhtiyaar-e shouk dekhya chahiye
Sinah-e- shamseer sey baahar hain dum shamsheer ka

Aagahee daam-e shunidan jis qadar chaahey bichhaaye
Mudad aa anka hai apney aalam-e takreer ka

Baski hoon Ghalib mein bhi aatish zer-e pa
Muu-e aatish deedah hain halkah zanjeer ka

We are separated and divided from the tru source

The existence of a picture is meaningless. It laments the life.

In solitude and separation do not ask about wear and tear i experienced.

To exist from night to morning is not less than bringing the river of milk

(river of milk was difficult for farhad, for me to exist from night to morning)

In my eagerness to get slain such passion

Is attracting the sword’s dam out of the sword’s chect

(dam – breath and edge)

Even if the most intelligent spreads the net of hearing even then

The meaning of my speech is anqa my verse a mystery

(Anqa bird – upon which nets can never be flung)

Restless person is having fire under the feet. It seems ankle fetters singed hairs

And when a hair sees fire. It curls up and takes a form of the link of chain.

(circles of chain – eyes like fire – raining of love emerging whichk makes prisoner of love restless and uneasy)
